BRUNSWICK

Brunswick Old City Hall

Begin your day by picking up your registration packet at the Brunswick Old City Hall. The Romanesque Revival building, constructed between 1886-1889, was designed by renowned Georgia architect Alfred Eichberg. Eichberg also designed Savannah’s Telfair Hospital for Females, the Central of Georgia Railway Building (now SCAD’s Clark Hall), various structures for Atlanta’s 1881 International Cotton Exposition, and numerous other residential and smaller projects across the state. Eichberg is buried at Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery, where he holds the distinction of having the cemetery’s only copyrighted tombstone.

Friday Ramble: Brunswick
Nestled along the Golden Isles, the port city of Brunswick is known for having the second-largest collection of documented historic buildings in Georgia. Explore the city’s Old Town Historic District featuring a mix of architecture that reflects the city’s rich maritime history.
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Cocktails and Dinner
Queen and Grant
1315 Grant St, Brunswick, GA 31520
Conclude the day with cocktails and dinner at the Queen and Grant in downtown Brunswick. Housed in a historic c.1930 industrial building, it has been thoughtfully brought back to life by Port City Partners, and its remarkable rehabilitation received a Georgia Trust Preservation Award.

Jekyll Island – 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Tour historic houses in Brunswick’s Windsor Park neighborhood, featuring Craftsman bungalows, Colonial Revivals, and mid-20th-century ranch homes. After lunch, explore Jekyll Island, once a winter retreat for America’s wealthiest families. Experience the timeless elegance of the historic Jekyll Island Club and discover lesser-known mid-century modern buildings that add a unique architectural layer to the island’s history.

End the day with cocktails and dinner at Indian Mound Cottage, the 1892 winter retreat of Standard Oil magnate William Rockefeller.

Begin your day with brunch in the recently restored Adam Strain Building, a two-story tabby structure considered one of the oldest commercial buildings in the state.
Sunday Ramble: Darien
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Walk among the century-old live oaks and magnificent magnolia trees of Vernon Square, which showcases a collection of historic architecture that reflects Darien’s colonial roots and coastal heritage.

Each day of the Ramble offers different sites. In order to maintain homeowner and site privacy, we do not release the schedule of sites with site addresses prior to the Ramble. All Ramble sites will be listed in the Program that will be provided at packet pickup during the Ramble.
